Hi @DailyCat,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035e is displaying the error message "The print carriage cannot move," but there are no visible paper jams, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
**1. Check for Obstructions
- Open the cartridge access door. This allows you to inspect the area where the print carriage moves.
- Look for any small pieces of paper, foreign objects, or debris that might be obstructing the movement of the print carriage. Remove any obstructions you find.
- Manually move the print carriage (if possible) from side to side. It should move smoothly. If it feels stuck or obstructed, there may be something blocking it.
**2. Check the Print Carriage
- Remove and then reinstall each ink cartridge. Make sure each cartridge is seated properly and clicks into place.
- Check for any damage or misalignment of the cartridges or printhead. If the printhead is removable, carefully clean it following the manufacturer’s instructions.
**3. Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.:
- Access the printer’s menu (if the display allows) and look for an option to reset the printer to factory settings. This will clear any incorrect settings or configurations.
**4. Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website to check for and install any available firmware updates for your printer. Firmware updates can sometimes fix bugs and improve printer performance.
**5. Inspect the Paper Path:
- Ensure that no paper is caught in the paper feed mechanism. Sometimes small bits of paper or other debris can cause issues.
- Gently clean any visible dust or debris from the paper feed area. Use a lint-free cloth to avoid leaving any fibers behind.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
