@justinecruz, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like you're encountering an unusual error message related to "chrome__extension" when printing from your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740, even though you don’t use Chrome. This kind of issue usually points to a corrupt print job, third-party extension, or malware/adware injecting into the print process.

Here’s how you can troubleshoot and fix it step by step:

1. Cancel all print jobs

Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers

Right-click your printer > See what's printing

Cancel any stuck or pending print jobs.

2. Clear the print spooler

Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Scroll to Print Spooler, right-click and choose Stop.

Now, navigate to this folder: C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS

(Click “Continue” if prompted for admin access)

Delete all files in that folder.

Go back to services.msc and Start the Print Spooler again.

3. Check your default printer and apps

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners

Make sure the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is set as default.

Check if any third-party apps or virtual printers are installed (e.g., PDF printers or browser extensions) and uninstall anything unfamiliar.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
