HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Printer Failure with 71.02 4A as a code and have done all the recommended fixes (updated, restarted, restored to default, removed inks) and I cannot figure out what the problem is and why it's not being fixed with the recommendations.

Please help.

If the printer is dead, just say so!

@stenomom3,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The 71.02 4A error on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 typically indicates a hardware failure, often related to the printhead, internal electronics, or ink system.

Since you've already:

  • Updated firmware
  • Restarted
  • Restored defaults
  • Removed and reseated ink cartridges

Unplug & Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from power.
  • Wait 5-10 minutes (this clears residual charge).
  • Plug it back in and power it on.

Try Different Power Source

  • Plug the printer into a different outlet, bypassing surge protectors.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
