Hi @rainbowresort,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When you encounter a "Printer Failure Alert" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer after changing an ink cartridge, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Ink Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. Open the printer cover and reseat the cartridges to make sure they are properly inserted.

Clean Contacts: If the printer still shows the error, remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.

Update Firmware: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve such issues. Visit the HP Support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available. Follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Reset the Printer: Perform a partial reset of the printer:

  • With the printer powered on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Wait for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cord.
  • If the printer does not automatically turn on, press the Power button to turn it on.

Check for Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer or the ink system.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the "Printer Failure Alert" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
