Hi @cececera, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP printer is displaying a "Printer Failure" or "There is a problem with the printer or ink system" error, try the following steps to resolve it:
Power Cycle the Printer
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait 5-10 minutes before plugging it back in.
- Turn the printer back on and check if the error persists.
Check for Paper Jams
- Open all printer access doors (front, back, and ink cartridge access area).
- Remove any stuck paper or debris carefully.
- Close all doors and restart the printer.
Inspect the Ink Cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door and remove the cartridges.
- Check for ink leaks or damage.
- Reinsert them properly and ensure they are genuine HP cartridges.
Reset the Printer
- While the printer is ON, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds, then reconnect everything and turn the printer on.
Update Printer Firmware
- If the printer connects to Wi-Fi, check for updates via the HP Smart app or HP Support website.
- Install the latest firmware to resolve known issues.
Clean the Printhead
If your printer has a removable printhead (like OfficeJet Pro models), try:
- Removing the printhead and wiping the contacts with a lint-free cloth.
- Reseating it properly before restarting the printer.
Perform a Hard Reset (for Persistent Errors)
- Unplug the printer, hold the Power button for 30 seconds, then reconnect the power cable.
Check for Hardware Issues
If none of the above steps work, the issue could be a hardware failure.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
