HP Recommended

Quite often when I go to print something, the printer goes into maintenance mode and the print job is delayed until the "maintenance" has completed.  Debating on whether to throw it in the trash and buy a new one.  Don't want to pay to have it fixed as I can buy a new one for not much money. However, if there is a fix I can possibly do I would appreciate knowing what it is.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What operating system? Do you have the printer plugged into a switched outlet?

 

If you are using an external switch (rather than the switch on the printer) to turn the printer off it may cause the issue you are seeeing.  When the printer is turned off from an external switch the printer will remember this, and a printer maintenance will be performed when a print job is first sent after the power is restored.

 

If you are using an exxternal switch please stop, it can cause issues with the printer.  In addition to the time to perform the maintenance function the printheads may dry out.  The result will be more ink used and perhaps poor print quality.

HP Recommended

The model of the printer is an HP Office Jet Pro 8028e.  Operating system is Windows 11 Pro.  Not plugged into switched outlet.  Ideas ?
