My printer will COPY and print.  It will also print a Status Page.   When i try to print a file, it tells me that the printer is in "error State"? was it hit with a surge? Stan

Step-by-Step Fix for “Printer in Error State” (Windows 11)

1. Restart Printer and PC

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.


2. Check Windows Printer Status

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
  • Select your printer and click Open Queue.
  • Make sure it’s not paused or set to offline.


3. Reinstall Printer Driver


4. Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any pending updates.


5. Try Printing from the HP Smart App
