@nigel0790,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with the admin password on your printer after changing your router. Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. It will be a delight to assist you here.

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Did you try to access the printer settings?
  • Are you able to log into the EWS page of the printer from a computer browser?

For now, try these steps:

  • Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link:https://hp.care/2JOXX1C  and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer
  • Then restore network defaults on the printer from this user guide link: https://hp.care/2hM1Vuc  refer to page 134 for steps on how to do it.
  • This should fix the issue. If it continues, then I will send a private message on how to perform a semi-full reset on the printer and that should fix the issue.
  • Please check your Forum private message box for instructions from me on how to perform the semi-full reset.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Many thanks for the reply  and method of fixing the hp officejet pro 6907 , there are two ways of fixing it the 1st is an engineers reset by turning off then on then pressing  the home and back buttons while its starts up ...tried this but the second time we got a locked blue screen on the home LCD on printer.

If you get blue screen with a code turn power off for 5 mins then restart.

at this stage Hp online chat took over and fixed problem from inside my mac via a usb lead to the printer .exactly what he did was beyond my technical expertise but was to do with static IP address .It took him a while as it was very in depth and technical ..many thanks to this technician from HP help (his name was daniel ) whom I owe a big thanks.
