Hi @seniorsenior.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

We understand you're experiencing an issue where your HP DeskJet 4222e All-in-One Printer is not consistently recognized by the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 PC, despite having been set up and used successfully in the past.

Sorry to hear about the trouble, and we're here to help resolve this for you.

1. Restart Devices

Please restart the following devices in order:

  • The printer
  • Your wireless router
  • Your Windows 11 computer

This will reinitialize network connectivity for all devices.

2. Ensure the Printer Is on the Same Wi-Fi Network

  1. On your printer, press the Information (i) button to print a Network Configuration Page.
  2. Check that the network name (SSID) matches the one your PC is connected to.
  3. Confirm that the Status is listed as Connected and make a note of the IP Address shown.

3. Update HP Smart App

  1. Open the Microsoft Store on your PC.
  2. Search for HP Smart.
  3. If an Update button is available, please click it.

4. Manually Add the Printer to HP Smart

If the printer does not automatically appear:

  1. Open HP Smart.
  2. Click the “+” (Add Printer) button.
  3. If your printer is not listed:
    • Click “Set up a new printer” and follow the prompts.
    • Or, click “Advanced Settings” > “Add Printer Using IP Address”, and enter the IP address from Step 2.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
