Hi @alice031, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet 4630 printer is having both printing and copying issues. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Error Messages

  • Look at the printer’s display for any error messages or blinking lights.
  • If any error is displayed, let me know what it says.

Reset the Printer

  1. On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
  2. Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.

Verify Printer Connection

  • If connected via Wi-Fi, ensure the printer is connected to the correct network.
  • If using USB, try another port or cable.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor from HP’s official website.
  2. Open the tool and follow the on-screen instructions.

Set Printer as Default

  1. Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click on HP OfficeJet 4630 and select Set as Default Printer.

Clear Print Queue

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Restart.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Uninstall the printer from Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Restart your PC.
  3. Download and install the latest driver from HP's website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I uninstalled printer hp4630 because of issues.

Tried to reinstall printer, message says can't install until

current installation is completed.

How to I find out what is being installed and delete it, so

Thank you for your response @alice031

It sounds like a stuck installation is preventing the reinstallation of your HP OfficeJet 4630 printer. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Restart Your Computer

  • Restart your computer to clear any stuck installations.
  • Try reinstalling the printer after rebooting.

Check for Pending Installations

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Look for any HP printer-related processes (e.g., HP Installer, HP Setup, HP Smart).
  3. If found, right-click and select End Task.

Use Windows Installer Cleanup

  1. Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and hit Enter.
  2. Find any HP printer software, select it, and click Uninstall.
  3. If it doesn’t uninstall properly, use the Microsoft Install/Uninstall Troubleshooter:

Manually Remove HP Printer Drivers

  1. Press Windows + R, type printmanagement.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Click All Drivers, find HP OfficeJet 4630, right-click, and select Delete.
  3. Restart your computer.

Clear Temporary Files

  1. Press Windows + R, type %temp%, and hit Enter.
  2. Delete all files in the Temp folder.

Reinstall the Printer

  1. Download the latest drivers from HP website.
  2. Run the installer and follow the setup instructions.

I hope this helps!
