It happened to my 8600 last month after replacing 2 cartridges. What happened was the print head got clogged. There are really only 2 possible fixes for this. Remove the print head and purchase a cleaning kit, or you can replace the print head which is what I ended up doing. I purchase a new HP print head that came with 4 starter cartridges from Amazon. It cost me $140.00. There are also generic print heads out there that cost less, with out cartridges but your success rate is to purchase the HP print head, that comes with the starter cartridges is greater. I speak from experience. You might want to try cleaning the print head first. The cleaning kit cost about $20.00. Your printer says to unplugged the printer and plug it back in. That will not fix the problem. I don't don't know how many times I did that. Something I've learned from this. Best to replace the cartridges before completely depletion of ink. This can cause the print head to clog. You as I may get away with with doing that but eventually the print head will clog.
