HP DeskJet 3721 All-in-One Printer

Everytime i try to print something, a printer message shows up saying printer in error state, i have turned it off and on, tried fully unplugging it and nothing seems to be working

I understand your HP DeskJet 3721 All-In-One Printer is displaying an "error state" message, there could be several reasons behind it. 

 

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

 

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Ensure that all cables connecting the printer to your computer are properly plugged in.
  • Make sure there is paper in the paper tray and that there are no paper jams.
  • Check if there are any error lights or messages on the printer's control panel that might provide additional information about the problem.

Restart Printer and Computer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer.

Update Printer Drivers:

Check Printer Spooler Service:

  • Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type services.msc and press Enter.
  • Locate the "Print Spooler" service in the list.
  • Right-click on it and select "Restart".
  • Check if the printer is working now.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the Control Panel on your computer.
  • Go to Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP DeskJet 3721 printer and select "See what's printing".
  • Click on "Printer" in the top menu and select "Cancel All Documents".
  • Confirm the action and try printing again.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, third-party software or security programs can interfere with the printer's functionality. Try temporarily disabling antivirus or firewall programs and see if the printer works.

Reset the Printer:

  • You can also try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This process usually involves pressing a combination of buttons on the printer. Refer to the printer's manual or HP's support website for instructions specific to your model.
