Hi @pr2501,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP printer shows a status of "Idle" with an "Error" message, it can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Connections:
- Ensure that all cables (USB, power, etc.) are securely connected.
- If using a network printer, verify that it is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Check for Error Messages:
- Look for any specific error messages or blinking lights on the printer's control panel that could indicate the problem.
Clear Print Queue:
- On your computer, go to the Devices and Printers section.
- Right-click on your HP printer and select See what's printing.
- Cancel any pending print jobs that might be causing the error.
Run Printer Troubleshooter (Windows):
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your printer and click on Manage.
- Click on Run the troubleshooter to diagnose and fix issues.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. You can visit the HP website to download the latest drivers for your printer model.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Inspect the printer for any paper jams or obstructions. Remove any jammed paper carefully.
Reset the Printer:
- If the error persists, consider performing a factory reset on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
