Hi @Opalt6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I know how frustrating it is when your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e stops printing and shows an account error, even after a factory reset. You’ve done the right thing by trying the reset, and I’m here to help you move forward.

This error typically occurs on HP+ or Instant Ink-enrolled printers when:

  • The printer is not properly linked to your HP account.
  • The internet connection is unstable or missing.
  • The printer was reset but not reactivated correctly.

Step-by-Step Recovery

1. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • Make sure your printer is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  • On the printer screen, go to SettingsNetwork SetupWireless SettingsRestore Wi-Fi Setup Mode.
  • Reconnect using the HP Smart app.

2. Reclaim the Printer to Your HP Account

  • Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  • Sign in with your HP account.
  • Add your printer again.
  • If it says “This printer is already claimed,” follow the prompts to reclaim it.

3. Check HP Account Status

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
