Hi @Debbie-Bruns88,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot your HP DeskJet 4158e All-in-One Printer.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly and have sufficient ink. Remove and reinstall them to ensure they’re properly seated.

Printer Nozzles:

  • The nozzles might be clogged. Run a cleaning cycle from the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app to clean the print heads.

Check Paper Path:

  • Ensure there's no paper jam or obstruction in the paper path. Sometimes paper debris or a jam can cause printing issues.

Printer Alignment:

  • Perform a print head alignment from the printer settings to ensure the print heads are correctly aligned.

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can help reset any temporary issues caused by the power interruptions.

Update Firmware:

  • Make sure the printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or the printer’s settings menu.

Print Test Page:

  • Try printing a test page from the printer’s menu or the HP Smart app. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer or the print job itself.

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that the correct printer is selected in your print settings and that no unusual settings are applied.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, there might be an internal problem caused by the electrical issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
