Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to reset the Printer here:

Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  1. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  6. NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.

If the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-4630-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5305049/model/530...

Thank you for your response.  I did not detail what was really happening in my initial question.  I did try the "reset" procedure presented, which I have tried before from searching other forums with this similar problem but it did not work.  The symptom is when the printer is initially plugged in, it automatically turns on and begins to boot up for about 10 seconds, then toward the end, just prior to shutting off, the ink cartridge carriage moves to the left about one inch, then stops and the printer shuts off.  Also, during the boot up time, but towards the end of this shut down issue, one or two beeps are heard, which I think are normal beeps heard on a functional boot up procedure, if I recall correctly.  Pushing the on/off button does nothing.  I did some troubleshooting by pulling out the power module and determined no voltage was coming out of the three wire port to power the printer.  This is after it had shut down but still plugged in to the wall (120 vac main power to the printer).  If I unplug this power to the wall and then plug it back in, the whole above procedure takes place again.  It appears the power module shuts itself down, which may be due to it's inability to provde the necessary power to run the printer mechanisms, due to a fault in the power module or, the power load has increased in the printer due to a printer mechanism malfunction.  I have ordered another power module and, when installed, will update with the results.
