Hi @RCZ1964,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're dealing with a frustrating situation with your printer. Here are some steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:

  • Turn off the Printer: As you mentioned, you turned off the printer last night to stop the printing. If it started again when you turned on your computer today, try turning off the printer again.
  • Cancel Print Jobs: If there are any print jobs stuck in the print queue, try canceling them again from your computer. You can do this by going to the printer settings on your computer and selecting the option to cancel all print jobs.
  • Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, restarting your computer can help clear any print jobs that may be stuck in the queue.
  • Reset the Printer: If turning off the printer doesn't resolve the issue, you can try resetting the printer. Most printers have a reset button or a reset option in the settings menu. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to reset it.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates include bug fixes that can resolve issues like this. Update the firmware on an HP printer
  • Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers: If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer drivers on your computer. This can sometimes help resolve communication issues between the computer and the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
