HP Envy 7645 is not printing MAGENTA.  All reports from testing are good except the color print.

I understand your HP Envy 7645 is not printing the magenta color, even though all test reports look good. Let’s walk through some steps to resolve this issue.


Check Ink Levels

Even if the printer reports good stats, it's worth manually checking the ink levels:

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Ink Levels.
  • Ensure the magenta cartridge is not low or empty.

Run a Print Quality Diagnostic Report

This helps identify if magenta is missing from the printout:

  • From the printer control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Print Quality Report.
  • Look at the magenta blocks—if they’re missing or streaked, continue with the next steps.

Clean the Printhead

Ink clogs are a common cause of missing colors:

  • On the printer, go to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Run the cleaning cycle up to 2–3 times if needed.
  • Print another test page to check improvement.

Check Cartridge Venting

Sometimes, the cartridge vent may be clogged:

  • Remove the magenta cartridge.
  • Check the vent area (small hole on top) if clogged, gently clean it with a pin.
  • Reinstall the cartridge securely.

Try a Different Cartridge

If cleaning doesn’t help, try replacing the magenta cartridge with a new genuine HP cartridge. Non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause color issues.


Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can affect print quality:

Align the Printhead

After replacing or cleaning cartridges:

  • Go to Setup > Tools > Align Printer
