@daretobe, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printhead problem!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

This specific error is often related to an internal hardware issue or a firmware glitch. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Perform a Power Reset

  1. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  2. Wait for 2-3 minutes to allow the printer to fully reset.
  3. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid using power strips or surge protectors).
  4. Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Update Printer Firmware

Since you're using Chrome OS, you may need to update the firmware via HP Smart or another device.

  1. Open HP Smart on a Windows, Mac, or mobile device.
  2. Navigate to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings (EWS).
  3. Check for any available firmware updates and install them.

Check for Hardware Issues

If the error persists, it may indicate a formatter board issue or another internal hardware failure. In this case:

  • Try removing and reinserting the ink cartridges and ensuring they are properly seated.
  • If available, try a different power outlet to rule out power-related issues.
  • Perform a semi-full reset (this varies by model; let me know if you need instructions).

Looking forward to your update! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Sorry for taking so long to reply to your post. This seems to have cured the problem. I'm not getting the error code any more and the printer is functioning normally. Thank you very much!
