Hi @Woody106,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Printing gibberish on an envelope can be caused by several issues such as incorrect printer settings, driver problems, or issues with the document formatting. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer Settings

  • Correct Paper Size and Type: Make sure you have selected the correct paper size and type for the envelope in the printer settings.
    • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your HP Smart Tank 7602 and select "Printing preferences."
    • Set the correct paper size (e.g., Envelope #10) and type (e.g., Envelope).

2. Check Document Formatting

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Driver Update: Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer.
    • Visit the HP Support Website and download the latest drivers for the HP Smart Tank 7602.
    • Install the updated drivers and restart your computer.

4. Check Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support Website and check for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Follow the instructions to update the printer firmware.

5. Check Printer Connection

  • Connection Issues: Ensure the printer is properly connected to your computer, whether via USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet.
    • If connected via Wi-Fi, ensure a stable network connection.

6. Print a Test Page

  • Test Page: Print a test page to check if the issue persists with other types of documents.
    • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer and select "Printer properties."
    • Click "Print Test Page."

7. Clear Print Queue

  • Clear Queue: Sometimes, a stuck print job can cause issues. Clear the print queue to ensure no corrupted jobs are affecting the printing process.
    • Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers.
    • Double-click on your printer and clear all pending print jobs.

8. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Follow the prompts to diagnose and resolve any issues found.

9. Reset Printer to Factory Defaults

  • Factory Reset: Resetting the printer to its factory settings can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
    • Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on performing a factory reset.

10. Check for Operating System Updates.

  • Go to Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
