Hi

I'm so frustrated with this printer I feel like chucking it out of the window!

I'm printing photographs and it gets a quater or half way through the print, stops printing, waits a bit (the power button blinks at this point) and then spits the rest of the paper out.

It's not doing this on every print, but say every third print or so.

I'm using a variation of matt A4 and glossy A4 and I'm chaning the printer settings accordingly.

Can anyone offer any advice?

I'm wasting so much ink and paper!

Thanks in advance

A warm welcome to HP forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand you need support and I'll be glad to help you out. However, for an accurate solution, I would need more details:

Does it happen when you copy a document/photo?

How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?

Which application are you using to print?

Have you tried printing from another device?

Could you also print a self test page and let me know the results. In order to print s test page:

1.) Press and hold the Power button, and then press the Cancel button .

2.) Let go of the Cancel button, and then the Power button.

Let me know!

Hi Senan6806

I haven't copied anything as I have nothing that I need to copy. Should I try doing this to see what happens? I don't really want to as I would be copying something I don't need and I'm wasting enough ink and paper as it is!

The prints I'm working through I am printing wirelessly.

I'm not sure what you mean by application... I am opening up the photo's in preview then selecting file and then print.

I was at one state printing from my iphone using the HP app, but this problem kept occuring. I deleted and reinstalled the app but it continued so I gave up and started printing from my macbook and it was okay for a while, but now it's happening again and it's getting more frequent.

Last week or the week before I was having a problem with the photos printing with lines down them but my cartidges were not low on ink. I contacted support and in the live chat was told to print a test page, which I did. I have also recently gone through the clean process under the advise of the live chat person and also done a scan alignment I think it's called?

Thanks

Thanks for the detailed information. Could you please print a self test page and let me know if its printing the whole page. In order to print the test page, press and hold the Power button, and then press the Cancel button . Then let go of the Cancel button, and then the Power button.

I think it printed it all. image.jpg

So it’s just half printed again. I think it’s when I change the setting depending on the size of paper and quality of print. If I don’t select best then the print quality is poor and if I do select best it spits it out. See pic...

I don't see any print quality issue with the self test report, it could be an issue with the printer driver installed on your PC. Removing the existing printer driver and adding compatible driver may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button  at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Let me know  how it goes!

We can try power resetting the printer, cleaning the paper feed rollers and ink cartridges. Here is how to do it:

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the cartridge electrical contacts, refer to step 4 from this document.

5) Clean the paper feed rollers, refer to step 2 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges.

7) Download and update the printer firmware from here.
