Hi @Mike_G999 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're describing, where the HP Officejet 4630 prints random lines in a very small font, often pointing to a driver, software, or printer alignment issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot:

Step 1: Check the Document Formatting

  • Open the document you are printing and check the font size and formatting.
  • Ensure the lines that appear in the small font are not set to a smaller font in the source document.
  • Try printing the document from a different application to see if the issue persists.

Step 2: Update Printer Drivers

  • Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
  • Enter your printer model (HP Officejet 4630) and download the latest drivers for Windows 10 (64-bit).
  • Uninstall the existing driver by going to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program and removing HP printer software.
  • Restart your computer and install the newly downloaded drivers.

Step 3: Run the Printer Alignment

  • From the printer’s control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Align Printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to print an alignment page and complete the alignment process.
  • Test print a document to see if the issue is resolved.

Step 4: Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Reconnect the printer and turn it back on.
  • Print a test page to check for improvements.

Step 5: Change Print Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and locate your HP Officejet 4630.
  • Right-click the printer and select Printer Properties > Preferences.
  • Under Advanced or Paper/Quality, select Plain Paper and ensure Black Ink Only is chosen.
  • Test the printing again.

Step 6: Clean the Printhead

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • The printer will clean the printhead, which may resolve issues with random or distorted prints.
  • Print a test page to confirm.

Step 7: Test with Another Document or Application

  • Try printing a different document or from another application to see if the issue is specific to the document or app.
  • If possible, test the printer on another computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
