Hi @Deb5353,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing some frustrating issues with your HP Officejet 6600 printer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Check Cartridges: Ensure that all cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly. Sometimes, even a slightly loose cartridge can cause issues. Remove and reseat each cartridge carefully.
  • Use Genuine HP Cartridges: Using genuine HP ink cartridges is essential for the proper functioning of the printer. Recycled or third-party cartridges may not work reliably and can cause errors.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Ink residue or dust can accumulate on the cartridge contacts over time, leading to connectivity issues. Gently wipe the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab dampened with distilled water.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's control panel or HP's website.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even a small piece of torn paper can cause the printer to malfunction. Check all areas of the printer for any paper jams or obstructions.
  • Run Print Quality Diagnostic: Most HP printers have a built-in diagnostic tool to check print quality and identify issues. Access the printer's control panel menu and look for a "Print Quality" or "Diagnostic" option.
  • Reset the Printer: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can try resetting the printer to its factory settings. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.

If you've tried all these steps and are still encountering errors, it's possible that there may be a hardware issue with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
