Hi @Anna2484,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the "Problem with Printer or Ink System" error on the HP Officejet Pro 8610 typically indicates a hardware or cartridge issue.
Here are some additional troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem:
1. Power Reset the Printer
- Turn on the printer.
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and plug it back into the wall outlet.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.
2. Check the Ink Cartridges and Printhead
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the cartridges.
- Inspect each cartridge for damage and ensure they are properly vented (remove any protective tape).
- Reinstall the cartridges, making sure they click into place.
- Remove the printhead (if it's removable) and gently clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Allow everything to dry before reinstalling.
3. Update the Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date, as outdated firmware can cause various issues.
- Go to the HP support website and enter your printer model to find firmware updates.
4. Clean the Printhead
- Access the printer's control panel, and navigate to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead. This utility cleans the printhead to resolve common ink system errors.
5. Perform a Factory Reset
- If the error persists, consider resetting the printer to its factory settings. Note that this will erase any customized settings on your printer.
- To perform a reset: Turn on the printer, press the Back button (the button that looks like an arrow going left) 4 times, which should bring up a support menu. Navigate to the "Reset Menu" and choose "Semi-Full Reset."
6. Test with Different Cartridges
- If you have another set of ink cartridges available, try using them to see if the error clears. Sometimes, the issue might be with the cartridges themselves.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
