Hi @ETC49,

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand, the light blinks on the printer for the low ink cartridge.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Was your printer working fine earlier with an older ink cartridge?

Did you make any hardware/software changes apart from changing ink cartridges?

How is the copy quality?

Step 1: Make sure the ink cartridges are compatible

An ink cartridge error displays when the wrong ink cartridge is installed.

  note:

This printer is enabled with dynamic security. It is intended for use with cartridges using only HP original electronic circuitry. Ink cartridges using modified or non-HP electronic circuitry may not work, and those that work today may not work in the future. Click here for more information.

Visit HP SureSupply to check ink or toner cartridge compatibility or purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies.

  1. Go to HP SureSupply.

  2. If necessary, select your country/region.

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to order new supplies or check cartridge compatibility with your printer.

You can also purchase genuine HP cartridges and supplies from other retailers.

Step 2: Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed

When the ink cartridges are not correctly installed, the printer might display an error. Remove the ink cartridges, check them for any plastic tape, reinstall the ink cartridges, and then try to print again.

  note:

HP cannot guarantee the quality of remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges. Use genuine HP ink cartridges for good print quality.

  1. If the printer is off, turn on the printer.

  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before continuing.

  3. Lightly press down on the ink cartridge to release it, and then pull the ink cartridge out of its slot.

      caution:

Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

  4. Remove any protective tape that still might be on the contacts.

      caution:

Do not try to remove the copper electrical strip.

  5. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, and then insert the ink cartridge into its proper slot.

    • Insert the black ink cartridge into the right slot.

    • Insert the tri-color ink cartridge into the left slot.

  6. Push the ink cartridge forward into its slot until it snaps into place.

  7. Repeat these steps to replace the other ink cartridge, if necessary.

  8. Close the ink cartridge access door.

If the error persists, continue to the next step.

Step 3: Clean the ink cartridge contacts
