Hi @raj926

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835 is showing a question mark on the display, it typically indicates an issue with the printer that may need further diagnostics.

Here are several troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure that the firmware update you recently performed was successfully completed. You can try to update the firmware again by visiting the HP support website and following the instructions for your printer model.

Printer's Power Cycle:

  • Perform a power cycle by turning off the printer, unplugging it from power, and waiting a minute before reconnecting and restarting it.

Check Connections:

  • Make sure all cables and connections (USB, power, network) are securely connected.

Use HP’s Diagnose & Fix Tool

  • In the HP Smart app, click Printer Settings > Diagnose & Fix.
  • Let it run a scan—it will automatically fix common connection issues.
You can also access this tool on HP’s support page if needed.

Inspect Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the printer’s cartridge access door and make sure that ink cartridges are correctly installed. If necessary, reseat them.

Hardware Reset:

  • Sometimes a hard reset can help. Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is still on, reconnect it after a couple of minutes, and turn the printer back on.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with the question mark display. Let me know how it pans out.

Hi, I have done following steps:

Restarted the Printer: Turned off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Waited for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
Checked for Firmware Updates: The firmware is updated fully.

Printer's Power Cycle: Performed a power cycle by turning off the printer, unplugging it from power, and waiting a minute before reconnecting and restarting it.
Check Connections: Made sure all cables and connections (USB, power, network) are securely connected.
HP’s Diagnose & fix tool does not have a solution marked for this problem.

Inspected Ink Cartridges:  Ink cartridges are correctly installed, reseated them.
Hard Reset: Disconnected the power cord from the printer while it was still on, reconnected it after a couple of minutes, and turned the printer back on.
After following all these steps question mark still remains on printer display.
