I will try to print and it will say "Looking for Printer" in the queue. I can fix it by just deleting and then adding the printer back onto the mac and it will work for about a day, then I will have to do it again when I try to print and the cycle repeats.

Does anyone know a permanent fix for this or am I just cursed to do repeat this every time I have to print something?

@chuckitychuck8, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

To assist you better, what model printer are you using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

  • How is the printer connected to the Mac?
  • Which application are you trying to print from?
  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Printer is connected through Secure Airprint, I originally tried printing through Google Docs but have tried multiple other ways and none of them have worked. Printer model is HP Color Laserjet Pro M478f.

I have the same problem. My printer is a LaserJet MFP, connected via the network, wirelessly. The printer says it's "Ready" and "Available to receive your files" in HP Smart, and green light in System Preferences, but will not print. The Print Queue says "Looking for printer". I make it work but walking over to the printer and switching in off/on each time...
