I bought what was supposed to be a new HP 7520 printer from ebay. When I first powered it on, after entering time and date is showed "print head failure". I tried several times and gave up. I tried again a few hours later and now it shows "Use setup cartridges that came with your printer".

 

Update - the seller now acknowledges that that the print head needed to be replaced, but this was listed as a new printer.

However, my other concern is why would that result in "Use setup cartridges that came with your printer"?

- Connection method - USB, physical LAN, or wireless?
- Error messages (if any) on the unit.

The printer was returned for a refund.

 

There is some menu you can get into via home, back, cancel, back, that will override the setup cartridge issue, but since I was returning the printer due to failed print head, it didn't matter and I didn't try that.
