I have a HP Officejet Pro 7740 printer. It was working fine until yesterday. When I send a print job, I hear the printer making the sounds like it is trying to print, then I get a (Paper Problems) error message, and I can either (X) out or select O.K. Please help! I have tried unplugging, waited over 3 minutes and plugging it back up and I still get the same error message.

Hi @mrhayes24,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Clear Paper Jam from the Rear Clean-out Door:
Access the Rear Clean-out Door:
- Press the tab on the left side of the rear clean-out door to release it. Remove the door by pulling it away from the HP all-in-one.
Remove Jammed Paper:
- Carefully pull the paper out of the rollers. Ensure all pieces of paper are removed; any torn pieces can cause further jams.
Replace Rear Clean-out Door:
- Push the clean-out door forward until it snaps into place. Press OK on the printer control panel to continue the current job.
Clear Paper Jam from the Automatic Document Feeder:
Lift the Cover:
- Lift the cover of the automatic document feeder.
Remove Jammed Paper:
- Gently pull the paper out of the rollers. Check for any torn pieces and remove them to prevent further jams.
Close the Cover:
- Close the cover of the automatic document feeder.
Clean Separator Pad and Rollers:
Transparent foreign substances such as pencil lead, wax, or ink residues might accumulate on the rollers and separator pad. This can be cleaned as follows:
Prepare Distilled Water:
- Lightly dampen a clean lint-free cloth with distilled water and squeeze out excess liquid.
Clean Rollers and Separator Pad:
- Wipe the rollers and separator pad identified inside the automatic document feeder with the damp cloth. If residues persist, use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.
Load Clean Paper:
- Load a couple of unused plain white paper into the document feeder and press Start Copy Black to pull the pages through the automatic document feeder. This helps remove residues from the rollers.
Additional Steps:
If cleaning the rollers and clearing jams does not resolve the issue:
- Verify that the paper meets the specifications recommended for your HP all-in-one.
- Ensure there are no curled, wrinkled or torn edges on paper loaded in the tray.
I hope this helps.
