I've been getting a "Printer needs your attention" message when printing on my 8035 printer.  No idea what attention it needs and there's no information about it.  But the printer continues to operate.

Hi @FireJohn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your OfficeJet 8035 is printing but keeps showing a “Printer needs your attention” message with no clear explanation. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check the Printer’s Control Panel for Any Icons or Prompts
Sometimes small alerts appear on the screen even if printing continues.
Look for low-ink icons, paper size prompts, or maintenance messages.

Verify Paper Size and Type Settings Match the Tray
A mismatch can trigger alerts even when the job prints.
Make sure the tray is set to the same size/type you selected in the print dialog.

Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Seating
Low or incorrectly seated cartridges can cause attention messages.
Remove and firmly reseat both ink cartridges, then close the lid.

Clear Any Pending Maintenance Alerts
The printer may want a firmware update, alignment, or cleaning cycle.
Open the Settings or Printer Maintenance menu and complete any listed tasks.

Restart the Printer and Your Computer
Connection glitches can cause generic “attention” messages.
Power both devices off, wait 30 seconds, then restart.

Reconnect the Printer in HP Smart
HP Smart often shows the specific alert that Windows does not display.
Open HP Smart and check the home screen for any warning banners.

Check for Recent Network Changes
Weak or changing Wi-Fi signals can trigger temporary attention messages.
If the printer is far from the router, move it closer or reconnect Wi-Fi.

I hope this helps.
