"Tray Empty or Open"

Printer shows "Tray Empty or Open" message.

I've tried cleaning all the rollers, replacing paper, putting in various amounts of paper and nothing clears it.

I pulled the paper tray out and it looks like there is a drop down plastic piece that serves as the sensor.

When I push the paper tray in it's as if the printer doesn't detect the tray is pushed back in as normal.

Any suggestions?

Yes I've pushed it in all the way and made sure it's seated.
