We moved nearly new - and very expensive - HP OEM ink cartridges from a printer that broke to its replacement printer that uses the same cartridges (950/951) but the cartridges are apparently permanently disabled after being used in the first printer.

How can we get the cartridges working?

UPDATE: the original printer was subscribed to the Instant Ink program, the 2nd printer is not; the ink will not work in the 2nd printer unless it enrolled in the Instant Ink program.

Hi @imguy

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to help you with the Instant Ink.

The inks from your old printer will not work in your printer. Please follow these steps to enroll the printer in Instant Ink - HP Instant Ink - Replacing or Adding Printers to Your Account

Please send us a private message with your Instant Ink account details or you may also respond to the private message I've sent out and I'll help you out, accordingly. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
