“removed print head to clean it. Powered down when machine asked me if I was sure I wanted to power down and risk damaging printer. I said yes, and finished reinstalling print head today. When I powered up, carriage moved at high speed and hit end stop. Now it says carriage can’t move due to possible paper jam. It seems like it lost track of its position. Is there a procedure to re-home it?” Printer is HP Officejet 7612

Hi @Paul6941,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have removed the print head from your HP OfficeJet 7612 Wide Format E-All-In-One to clean it, here are some steps you can follow to properly reinstall it.

  1. Make sure the printer is turned off and unplugged from the power source.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door by pulling it towards you.
  3. Locate the print head assembly and gently lift the latch handle to release the print head.
  4. Carefully remove the print head from the printer.
  5. Rinse the print head under running water to remove any clogged ink or debris. Do not use any detergents or chemicals to clean the print head.
  6. Shake the print head to remove excess water and let it air dry for at least 10 minutes.
  7. Once the print head is dry, reinsert it back into the printer and secure the latch handle.
  8. Close the ink cartridge access door.
  9. Plug in the printer and turn it on.
  10. Run a print head alignment and calibration process to ensure proper print quality.

It is important to handle the print head with care and avoid touching the nozzles or electrical contacts to prevent damage to the print head or printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
