I get an error message when printing a 4x6 photo.  it says out of paper, but there is paper in the photo tray.  i already unplugged it, didn't help.  i guess i'll have to use full size paper and cut out what i need.  but i don't want to do that.  it used to work, fyi.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.}

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand the printer gets the message - "out of paper", though there is paper available,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help you, although, to provide an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern:

Have you confirmed there isn't any paper stuck inside the rollers?

Did you clean the paper feed and pick rollers?

While you reply, here are a few things you could try:

Solution one: Check the paper, and then reload it

Follow these steps to check the condition of the paper, and then print a test page.

Solution two: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver

The printer might not pick up paper if the paper size and type in the paper tray do not match the paper size and type settings in the print driver. Select your operating system for steps to change the paper size and type settings in the print driver.

Solution three: Clean the paper feed and pick rollers

Dust, paper fiber, and other debris might accumulate on the paper feed and pick rollers and cause paper jams and paper feed issues. Use the following steps to clean the rollers inside the printer, and then try to print a Printer Status Report.

crazy, but after just doing the same thing over and over, it started working.  i am sure i hit OK, not cancel, when adjusting settings.  but it's working now, thanks!  two hours trying stuff, reinstalling,etc.  about like printing from film!
