Hello HP fourms,

I've scoured google and looked through a number of these forums -  but I cannot seem to see my issue.

I want to print on a custom envelope size which is not listed in the printer menu. I have a mac, and I have set the size of the paper in the custom sizes in the page-setup.

When I go to print, my printer displays there is a mismatch between the size I selected, and the size in the printer. Unfortunately I have not been able to find where I can set a custom paper size on the printer itself  whereas I can do this in my paper settings on my computer.

Attached are a couple screenshots, and a photo of the error on the printer:

Is there a way to override this error - or set custom paper sizes on my printer?

Thanks!

I only have a 9010 available but the process should be similar.

The easiest way to set the tray to custom is to Open and close the tray.  When the tray is closed it will prompt for the paper size.

Select Modify and then select Custom from the list.

If you have Hp Smart installed you can access the paper tray settings by Printer Settings.  Then Advanced Settings on the Left.

Then Select Settings at the Top and Scroll down to Open Preferences.  In Preferences there will Tray and Paper Management.

Select Custom from the Paper Size list and then Apply.

If that process is not working for some reason you can also set this in the printer Embedded Web Server (EWS).

The easiest way to access the EWS is to open System Preferences and select Printers & Scanners.  Click on the name of the printer on the left

and then select Options & Supplies.

Then select Show Printer Webpage...

In once the browser opens select Settings at the top and then Preferences on the Left.  Then select Tray and Paper Management.

Here you can set the Paper Tray to Custom and select Apply.

Hi @IronBadger,

Unfortunately I do not have a custom option listed when the printer prompts for what paper size I'd like.

I only have all the presets and I've updated the firmware to the latest available.

Wow...that is surprising.  I will have to look into it.  I do not see in the specs that it either does or does not support custom.

I apologize that I do not have a quick answer right now.

No worries at all. I feel like this is a limitation of the printer I have. It's mildly irritating, but not the end of the world.
