@trelub, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Make sure the printer is actually in Wi-Fi Setup Mode

Look at the blue wireless light:

Blinking → good, it's ready to connect

Solid → already connected (or stuck)

Off → Wi-Fi disabled

If it’s not blinking:

Restore Wi-Fi setup mode:

Hold the Wireless Button + Cancel Button together for 5 seconds

The blue light should start blinking
This means the printer is ready to join a network.

Use WPS (fastest method)

If your router has a WPS button:

Press WPS on the router

Press the Wireless button on the printer once

Wait 1–2 minutes
The blue light should turn solid when connected.

If your router does NOT have WPS → use Wi-Fi Direct Setup

This forces the printer to broadcast its own temporary network.

A. Print the network info page
Press the Information (i) button
Check for:

Wi-Fi Direct Name (HP-Setup-5100-xxx)

Password

B. Connect your phone/laptop to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct signal

C. Open the HP App
Now the printer shows up immediately since you're directly connected.

D. Send your Wi-Fi network name and password
The printer will switch to your home Wi-Fi, and the blue light will become solid.

Re-add the printer to your devices

HP app → Add Printer

Windows → Settings → Devices → Add printer

Mac → System Settings → Printers → Add

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
