Hi @wenwen_,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Based on the printed page from your HP Smart Tank 720 All-in-One, it looks like you're dealing with print quality issues specifically:

  • Horizontal lines across color blocks
  • Missing or faded sections
  • Uneven ink distribution

These are common symptoms of clogged or misaligned printheads, and I’ll guide you through how to fix them.

Steps to Fix the Print Quality Issue

1. Check Ink Levels

  • On the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app, verify that all ink tanks are sufficiently filled.
  • Refill any low tanks using genuine HP ink.

2. Clean the Printheads

  • Go to the printer’s touchscreen or HP Smart app:
    • Settings > Maintenance > Clean Printhead
  • Run the cleaning cycle once, then print a test page.
  • If the issue persists, run the cleaning cycle up to 3 times.

3. Align the Printheads

  • On the printer:
    • Settings > Maintenance > Align Printhead
  • This ensures the nozzles are properly calibrated for accurate printing.

4. Print a Diagnostic Page

  • Use HP Smart app > Printer Settings > Print Quality Tools
  • Select Print Quality Diagnostic Page to identify which colors or nozzles are affected.

5. Check for Dried Ink or Air Bubbles

  • If the printer hasn’t been used for a while, ink may have dried in the nozzles.
  • You can gently wipe the printhead area with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water (only if you're comfortable doing this manually).
