Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good evening everyone, I'm wondering how to resolve a problem recognizing the original HP 301 cartridges in my printer. Once you insert the new cartridges, it doesn't recognize them, the lights continue to flash indicating that the cartridges are empty or empty and the window appears on the PC with the message of defective or damaged cartridges. I bought them yesterday and spent a good 50 euro Please, if any of you can help me, I have tried all the solutions that the HP site has proposed to me. Thanks in advance to anyone who will help me

Hi @Anndrea,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with your recognizing the original HP 301 cartridges. This issue can be frustrating, but let's troubleshoot the problem together.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure that the cartridges are properly installed in the printer. Remove them and reinsert them carefully to ensure they are seated correctly.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dirt or residue on the cartridge contacts can prevent proper communication with the printer. Gently clean the contacts on the cartridges and inside the cartridge slots in the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly dampened with water. Be careful not to touch the nozzles or copper-colored contacts.
  • Restart Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on again. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve communication issues.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with cartridges. Software and Drivers for HP Deskjet 2050 All-in-One Printer series - J510
  • Check Cartridge Expiration Date: Ensure that the cartridges are not expired. Cartridges have an expiration date printed on the packaging, and using expired cartridges can cause issues with recognition.

I hope this helps.
