HP did not update many of there printer packages  for W10.   Simply find the HP istall exec, either run the w10 compatability checker or open properties and set the compat flag to w7.

Hi All, (OS: Windows 10)

I brought a new HP Photo Envy 6220 and kept getting this "Installing Device" screen which eventually fails and "Unsuccessful Network Installation" error. I tried the steps mentioned in this post and https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c05032099 which was a bit more detailed but nothing worked. Here is the weird bit the printer does actually get installed/added, if you check your devices and printer it is there and you can print a test page from it but for some reason it still shows as failed to install. I downloaded the full 44.3.2218 130mb software package from the HP Website (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-photo-6200-all-in-one-printer-series/907304...) and this was failing and giving the errors.

How I fixed the issue: I decided to download/install the basic driver 44.3.2218 66.8mb this worked!!!... everything was installed successfully no issues. So in my opinion issue is with HP Full installer not Windows!!!.. I hope this helps someone.

I had the same issue, I disabled the Windows defender firewall after which the installation completed.
