HP Photosmart C3180
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When turning the printer on, it always prints a test page on its own. I can print my files  only after the test page is done. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

Hello, @pennyra – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I see that your Photosmart C3180 always prints a test page when turned on. To isolate this issue and help you better, I need to know the following details:

  1. What is the test page which is printed? Is it something like an alignment or a printer test page?
  2. Disconnect the printer from the PC and then check if the printer still prints the test page. This will tell us if the test page is initiated from the PC or from the printer. Hence, if connected by USB cable, unplug the cable and if connected by the wireless, turn off the router and then turn on the printer and check.

While waiting for your reply, I would also like to clear the print spooler of the PC. If the test page is initiated from the PC, this will help us fixing the issue.

Try to fix this issue using HP Print and Scan Doctor (PSDR). PSDR is an automated tool which can diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems. Please go to http://hp.care/2bZ9w2q to download and run HP PSDR. Once you open the program, select your printer and click on “Fix Printing” to automatically diagnose and fix the issue.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Cheers 🙂
