HP ENVY 6432e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer information light is permanently on and will only let me print if I press it first - then I get a Printer Information Sheet printed as well which I don't want and wastes paper

Any suggestions on how to stop this please?

Thank you

Hi @TV061,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP Envy 6432e printer, where the information light is permanently on and it prints an information sheet every time, could be due to various reasons. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem.

Check for Error Messages

  • Printer Display: Look at the printer's display screen for any error messages or notifications that might explain why the information light is on.
  • HP Smart App: If you're using the HP Smart app, check for any error messages or notifications within the app.

Update Firmware and Software

  • Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this through the HP Smart app or the HP website.
  • Software: Make sure you have the latest printer driver and software installed on your computer.

Check Printer Settings

  • Information Sheet Setting: There might be a setting enabled that prompts the printer to print an information sheet. Check the printer settings through the HP Smart app or the printer's embedded web server (EWS).
    1. Open the HP Smart app and select your printer.
    2. Go to "Advanced Settings" or "Printer Settings".
    3. Look for any setting related to information or diagnostic pages and disable it.

Reset the Printer

  • Soft Reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Factory Reset: As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on your printer. This will revert all settings to their defaults.
    1. Go to the printer's control panel.
    2. Navigate to "Setup" or "Settings".
    3. Find "Restore Factory Defaults" or "Printer Maintenance" and select it.

Network and Connectivity

  • Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  • HP Instant Ink: If you're using HP Instant Ink, ensure there are no issues with your subscription that might trigger the information light.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and resolve the issue causing the information light to stay on and the unnecessary printing of information sheets.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
