Hi @Javuva,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

The error code 0xc19a0040 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 indicates a printhead failure, which is one of the more serious hardware-related errors. Since you've already tried all recommended troubleshooting steps and the printhead is non-removable, here’s what you need to know and do next:

1. Basic Reset (if not already tried)

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  3. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  5. Turn the printer back on.

2. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Visit the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 Drivers & Firmware page
  • Download and install the latest firmware if the printer becomes unresponsive.

3. Reset the printer to factory defaults

Sometimes this clears deep errors:

  • On the printer control panel, go to:
    • Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults
  • After the reset, re-add the printer to HP Smart and try printing again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
