Hi @stevensJ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Paper Tray:
- Ensure that the paper tray is properly loaded with the correct type and size of paper.
- Make sure there are no jams or obstructions in the paper path.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord, and wait for about 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.
Update Firmware:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve known issues.
Inspect for Obstructions:
- Inspect the paper path and the tray area for any objects or obstructions that may be preventing proper tray lifting.
Check for SMS Specification:
- The mention of "SMS specification not found" may indicate a communication or protocol issue. Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the network and that the necessary protocols are configured.
Manual Inspection:
- Refer to the printer's user manual for specific guidance on troubleshooting the tray lifting failure issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
