The HP Laserjet 2015 triangular light is on, and I don't know how to fix it. I have done a lot of troubleshooting already. How do I know if the printer is no longer valuable to keep if it does not print because it is an older model?

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The triangular light on your HP LaserJet P2015 printer's control panel is also known as the Attention Light, and it usually indicates an error with the printer, such as a paper jam, a toner issue, or another problem. It's understandable that you might be concerned about whether your printer is still worth keeping, especially if troubleshooting hasn't resolved the issue.

Here are some steps to further diagnose the problem and determine if the printer is worth repairing:

Step 1: Identify the Issue

  • Check the LED Pattern: The pattern of LED lights on your printer helps to pinpoint specific issues. Refer to the printer's manual for a description of what the current LED pattern signifies.

Step 2: Common Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Clear Paper Jams: Make sure there are no paper jams in the printer. Refer to the HP support documentation or manual to remove jams from specific areas, such as the input tray, output tray, or cartridge area.

  2. Toner Cartridge Issues: Ensure the toner cartridge is properly installed, and check if it is empty or damaged. Replace it with a new one if necessary.

  3. Reboot the Printer: Turn off the printer, disconnect the power cable, wait for a minute, then reconnect and turn it back on.

  4. Check the Tray: Ensure that the paper is correctly loaded and that the tray guides are snug against the stack of paper.

Step 3: Evaluate Printer Value

  • Age of Printer: Consider the age of your printer. The HP LaserJet P2015 series has been on the market for quite some time, and depending on how heavily you've used it, there could be wear and tear that might not be cost-effective to repair.

  • Cost of Repair vs. New Purchase: Compare the cost of repairing the printer with the price of a new printer. Sometimes, newer models offer better efficiency, higher printing speeds, and additional features that could be more cost-effective in the long run.

  • Frequency of Use: Evaluate how often you use the printer. If it's essential for daily tasks, investing in a reliable printer could be a wise choice.

Final Considerations

Should the repairs prove costly or if the printer continues to exhibit issues frequently, it might be time to consider investing in a new printer with updated features and support.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
