Hi @disgusted24,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem with your HP LaserJet MFP M140we printer.

Check Power Source:

  • Ensure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip or surge protector, which can sometimes cause issues.
  • Make sure the power cord is securely connected to both the printer and the outlet.

Network Connection:

  • Since the wireless light is flashing and you’re getting an exclamation mark, it suggests connectivity issues. Try reconnecting the printer to your Wi-Fi network:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel, find the network or wireless settings, and choose to reconnect to your network.
    • Ensure the Wi-Fi network is stable and other devices can connect without issues.

Update Drivers and Firmware:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
  • Check for any firmware updates for your printer and install them if available.

Printer Settings:

  • Sometimes, disabling features like automatic shutdown or sleep mode can help. Check the printer settings in the control panel or through the HP Smart app to see if these options are available.

Print Queue:

  • Clear the print queue on your computer to ensure there are no stuck print jobs causing issues.
  • You can do this by going to Devices and Printers, right-clicking on your printer, and selecting See what's printing.

Diagnostics:

  • Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor, a free tool that can diagnose and fix many printing issues. You can download it from the HP website.

Try a Different Computer:

  • If possible, try printing from a different computer or device to see if the issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
