 I do not use my printer every day and may not use it for weeks Is it recommended to turn the power off on the printer when not in use.

Do you use other services ? I would turn printer off when not in use to save energy. HP also says "The PowerSave or Sleep mode included with most printers  and MFPs on the market still consume high levels of energy".

 

I think your printer supports Auto off. Please try
