Hey @SteveJG,

I would like to assist you today with resolving the message 'problem starting HPStatusBL.dll' that you're getting on your Windows 8.1 computer. I understand that uninstalling your HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer has not made a difference. Just so you are aware, this error message is for a 'service' that Windows is trying to start that is related to the HP device. I will simply have you go in and manually remove that file. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Open your Start screen by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of your computer screen, or by selecting the Windows button on the bottom left of the keyboard, to the right of the Ctrl button.
  2. When the Start screen opens type Computer (may show as This PC)
  3. Click on Computer (or This PC) to launch the window
  4. When the Computer window opens, click on the C Drive
  5. Click on Users
  6. Click on your User Name
  7. Select AppData
  8. Select Roaming
  9. Select Microsoft
  10. Select Windows
  11. Select Start Menu
  12. Select Programs
  13. Lastly, click on Startup
  14. You will see a shortcut in here for  Monitor Ink Alerts - HP xxxxx. Right click on this and 'delete' it.

Once the Monitor Ink Alters file has been removed, please restart your computer to verify that the issue has been resolved.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck! 🙂

I have the same problem at startup but I can't use your solution as I'm running Windows 7 professional. Can you help?
