My HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer series - H711 uses an incredible amount of ink! I purchased this printer in 2014 when I was completing my Bachelor's degree. At that time, I printed more than I ever have and was still well under what most would use in ink. Since then I have replaced the ink in my printer on at least three separate occasions. I only print once in a great while and only print a few (under 5) pages when I do. It seems as though every time I want to print, I am out of ink in one color or another. I do not print anything in color but have to consistently buy colored ink in order to print in black and white. This is a nice printer, but I could have bought two new ones with the money I have spent in ink. I need suggestions on how to conserve ink as it runs about $70 each time I have to get it new. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
It's a pleasure assisting you in finding answers to your technical queries.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Are you printing in best mode or in the draft mode?
Are you using genuine HP Ink cartridge?
Could you please help me with the operating system of the computer?
I suggest you do a Hard Reset
(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Keep me posted.
Have a great day!
Cheers:)

OK, I did this. But I'm out of Cyan (despite not having printed ANYTHING in color for weeks), so now it won't print. Is there any setting I can use to print in black ink only, even if one of the color cartridges is empty? (I have my print preferences set this way anyway - and to print in draft - but apparently it doesn't *really* print with black ink only, or my color cartridges wouldn't be constantly running out for no reason.) Thank you.
