How do I stop receiving automatic alignments and information from HP without my authorization? I just got home and in front of the printer there were 13 repeated sheets of "Printer Information Page". Since I rarely use the printer, these automatic printouts represent more than 80% of my expenses for paper and ink.

Hi @jetcesar,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution

I can see how frustrating it must be to come home to a pile of unwanted printouts, wasting your ink and paper. Let’s put a stop to this so your printer only prints what you need.

Disable Automatic Printer Information Page

Some HP printers automatically print diagnostic or alignment pages, especially after updates or certain configurations. To disable them:

HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Go to your printer settings within the app.
  • Look for options related to reports, printer info pages, or automated printouts and disable the feature if enabled.

HP Printer Control Panel:

  • On the printer's control panel (if it has one), go to Settings or Printer Settings.
  • Find options related to Reports or Alignments.
  • Disable or uncheck the option for Printer Information Page or Alignment Page.

Check HP Printer Settings for Printouts

If the automatic printouts are related to HP Instant Ink, you might want to adjust settings related to ink usage and reports:

  1. Go to HP Instant Ink settings (either through the HP Smart App or online on the Instant Ink portal).
  2. Disable Automatic Report Printing or any other features related to printing informational pages.

Disable Printer Maintenance Features

Sometimes, printers will run maintenance tasks, like automatic alignments or cleanings, that result in wasted paper. To stop these:

  1. Open the printer’s settings via the printer's touch screen (if available).
  2. Go to Tools or Printer Maintenance settings.
  3. Disable any settings related to automatic alignment or automatic printing of maintenance pages.

Update Printer Firmware

Your printer might be printing unnecessary reports due to outdated firmware. Updating the firmware may help resolve this issue.

  1. Go to HP’s official support site.
  2. Look up your printer’s model (e.g., HP Pavilion 595-p0084) and check if any firmware updates are available.
  3. Install the updates to ensure your printer functions correctly and doesn’t print unnecessary pages.

Perform a Factory Reset (if necessary)

If the issue persists and you can’t find the option to disable printouts, you can try performing a factory reset on your printer. Please note that this will erase all your custom settings.

  1. On your printer’s control panel, go to Settings.
  2. Look for the Reset option under Advanced Settings.
  3. Perform a Factory Reset, then reconfigure the printer without enabling unnecessary printouts.

I hope the steps provided help prevent any more unwanted printouts. If the issue persists, feel free to reach out, and we’ll sort it out together!
