As said in my previous posts, scan to email works only when a local email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, Live Mail, or Mozilla Thunderbird, is installed and set up on the computer.

  • Web-based email accounts (Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Hotmail) must be configured through your local email client to scan to them.

Unless you install and configure any mail client software you may attach saved scans to Gmail manually through its interface, you cannot scan directly to a such with the HP Software.

Hi,

Scanning directly to email using the HP Scan software can only be done if you have an email client software such as Microsoft Outlook installed and configured on your computer, without any such software the operation will fail with such error.

If you use a webmail solution (such as Gmail.com, Outlook.com, your ISP email service, etc.) you would need to scan to a file and manually attach the scan to an email using your email web interface.

Shlomi, thanks for your assistance, yes i can save to file and then attach to email, but the printer gives me an option of scanning direct to email, and tells me to check my email configuration, but it does not tell me where to check my email configuration or what the settings should be

Do you have any email application installed and configured on your PC?

What application is it?

That’s the configuration the scan application refers to.
